Hi, I'm Dani. I'm a ceramic artist based in Brooklyn, originally from Houston, Texas.

I first started working with clay in a ceramics class in Houston, and pretty quickly fell in love with it. I still find the pottery wheel a little intimidating, so I spend most of my time hand building, which is where I feel like I have the most freedom to make exactly what I'm imagining.

A lot of my work starts with the people and things around me. I'm drawn to making miniatures, everyday objects, and little things that feel specific to a person or a memory. I like noticing the weird little details about the people I love and turning them into something they can actually hold onto.

I'm interested in ceramics as a way of making ordinary things feel a little more special, funny, sentimental, or unexpected. Most of the things I make start with something pretty simple—a person I love, something they said, an object they always use, a memory I don't want to forget—and go from there.

I'm still figuring out exactly where ceramics will take me, but I'm having a lot of fun making things along the way.
